Thoughts on Mother's Day just passed..

March 25, 2026

Mother’s Day, in its deepest sense, is a spring festival. In spring, the Earth releases its life forces into visible form: blossom, colour, renewal. Motherhood mirrors this same gesture.

The maternal presence shelters, warms, and strengthens the invisible forces of growth in another human being. Just as the Earth brings forth flowers, motherhood brings forth becoming.
It lives wherever growth is protected.
In those who nurture ideas, communities, friendships, artistry, healing, courage.
In those who hold space.
In those who stay.
In those who guide, foster, teach, tend, and love.

The maternal principle is a field of devotion, an atmosphere in which something fragile is allowed to root and rise.

At Cicely, our Mother’s Day bouquets honour this life-giving force in all its forms. They are not simply gifts; they are arrangements shaped in recognition of devotion, rhythm, warmth, and the quiet strength that sustains growth.

Flowers are the Earth’s offering. Motherhood — in every expression of care — is the human echo of that offering.
